Partridge Horse Hill offers lessons to people of all experience levels aged 5 years and up! You can use your own horse, or one of ours.
We have many clients of all ages, including retired couples!
Lessons are all with harmony horsemanship. Usually all lessons begin with some ground games instruction. Depending on the goals and needs of the lesson, the lesson could be entirely on the ground, or it could be mostly riding.
Partridge Horse Hill works with you to help you meet your goals. Some examples of goals to focus on are learning ground games, jumping, canter, and trail riding!
Students that take part in lessons are welcome at the farm during regular hours to spend ‘non demanding time’ with horses. This includes grooming, feeding treats, hand grazing, and spending time watching the horses in the paddock.
Non demanding time is encouraged with horses because it helps to build a better partnership with the horse – this is because the horse learns that you don’t always need to make them do something, but instead you can have non demanding time together.
Students of Partridge Horse Hill are ages 5 years and up. Many students of Partridge Horse Hill are adult equine enthusiasts looking to build safer and better partnerships with horses.
Partridge Horse Hill teaches students of all levels – from the first time beginner to the advanced competitor. Partridge Horse Hill can help you succeed using natural horsemanship.
Students have the chance to do clinics, shows, and special events like group trail rides.
You need to start with at least 1 private lesson so we can assess what level your are at and what your goals are. If we have a group you can join that fits with your age, skill level and goals then you can join a group. If you have a friend or family member to start lessons with you then you could start together as a new group as long as there are 2 or more people.
We typically reccomend a 2hr lesson for a first lesson because the first lesson needs to cover basics like where we keep our tack, how to get a horse from the field, how to get a horse ready for a lesson, etc. This means there isn't much time for riding if only doing 1hr. The hope is that within a few lessons you will be able to get your tack and horse ready before your lesson begins so that we can spend more time working with the horse during your lesson than getting saddled.
Lessons are typically weekday evenings and weekends. All of our coaches either work a day job or are attending school so weekdays are not usually available. Weekday evenings the lessons usually run from 5pm-9pm. See the online calendar for what is booked.
This depends on your learning needs and goals. If you want to work on trail riding then we can focus your lessons to skills that will help you for trails, or if you want to jump then we will gear exercises to jumping. No matter your goal, we always start each lessons with some ground work to get our horse ready to ride.
